“…Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured.” (Surah Ar-Ra’d (13):28)
There are 3 type of thoughts that go through our mind while we are doing a chore-
- What someone else should or shouldn’t do.
- What we should have or shouldn’t have done.
- Worry about future.
We have no control over what happened in the past, others actions and events of the future. I became tired of having these useless thoughts and the feeling they produced. I decided to have a thought plan to better utilize my brain. I started doing dhikr while doing a chore. It could be cleaning the kitchen, organizing the living room or folding the laundry while I remember Allah(swt).
You can choose any words to praise Allah(swt) and repeat it slowly while moving your lips and tongue. Why can’t you say it quietly? Because it takes a little bit of an effort to move your lips and tongue to say the words. And only with this effort, you get the pleasure of remembering Allah(swt). If you say it in your mind, your mind will go on automatic and run one of the above undesirable thoughts on its own!
So try it insha Allah. And you will feel the good vibes that Allah sends right away when you remember Him(swt). The reward is a perk alhamdulillah.
“So remember Me, I will remember you…” (Al-Baqarah 2:152)
